Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that a "life force energy" (or "chi") flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. All healers use chi or energy from the universal energy field; Reiki is but one way of accessing this energy directly. This way of accessing the energy requires a personal activation known as an attunement by a Reiki Master. Reiki cannot be accessed from reading a book or over the internet!
The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki which when translated mean “Universal Life Force Energy.” Reiki can:
Speed up the body's healing process and balance
the body's natural energy
- Heal the cause and eliminate the effect of imbalances
Relieve physical, emotional and mental pain as well as encourage spiritual clarity
Reiki will not interfere with any other modality of healing including any form of medication. It will actually help to strenghten the efficacy of other methods and modalities of treatments including but not exclusive to physical therapy, chiropractic, chemotherapy, Tai Chi and yoga.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Reiki has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
A traditional Reiki session is usually conducted with the client in a dimly lit room with soothing music playing to aid relaxation. The client is lying down on a massage table, fully clothed while the practitioner either hovers their hands above an area or touches parts of the body when necessary. The universal life energy flows from Spirit through the practitioner’s hands to the client. It is important to note that the energy does not come from the practitioner, the practitioner is the conduit for the energy. A treatment can last from 60 to 90 minutes. You will leave feeling de-stressed and refreshed. It is a wonderful experience!
As a Reiki Master/Teacher, I also give attunements to Reiki so that you, too, can perform Reiki on yourself and others. Please click here for information on Attunements.
